Literacy involves far more than simply reading the page.

This year our class will have a tri-fold purpose in our literacy classroom.

First)  We need to learn to love reading for information as well as entertainment.

Second) Cultural Literacy:  Students will be learning about many different cultures around the world, discussing their customs, traits, ideas, etc. as they learn more about themselves.

Third (lastly): Students are going to be working on forming their own ideas into the written world.  We will be using many forms of technology in this endeavor as we learn to express ourselves correctly in the written world.

Reading involves far more than just letters.  People must be taught to read words, pictures, styles, customs, etc. until they can grasp the hidden meanings around them.
